أوليڤر تويست
إنّ الحرمان المادي الذي عاناه ديكنز في وقت مبكر، قد ألهمه كتابة أفضل رواياته (أوليڤر تويست، دايڤد كوپرفيلد، الأوقات الصعبة)، والتي تتضمن محتوى اجتماعيًّا ونقديًّا كبيرًا.
عام 1836 منحه رئيس تحرير جريدة نادي پيكويك الفرصة لكتابة سلسلة شهريّة، والتّي ستحمل له الشهرة.
في الوقت عينه، كتب رواية أخرى في حلقات أسبوعية، «أوليڤر تويست»، والتي يصف فيها، بصورة فجّة، الحياة القاسية للناس الأشدّ فقراً، وقد لاقت نجاحاً باهراً.

Oliver Twist
Dickens’s early economic privations inspired his best novels (Oliver Twist, David Copperfield, Hard Times), which had great social and critical content.
In 1836 his editor offered him the chance of writing a monthly serial, The Papers of the Pickwick Club, which would bring him fame.
Around the same time, he wrote another novel in weekly episodes, Oliver Twist, in which he crudely described the harsh lives of the poorest. It had enormous success.
