إلى جانب أحدث التطورات العلمية في ذلك الوقت، توقّع «ڤرن» الكثير غيرها، كالسفر في الفضاء أو تحت الماء.
درس القانون، لكنه لاحقاً قرّر الكتابة. روايته الأولى «خمسة أسابيع في منطاد» (1862)، حقّقت له شهرة واسعة، حتّى إنّه استمرّ في كتابة قصص المغامرات الرائعة. قصته «الجزيرة الغامضة» كُتبت ونُشرت في حلقات على مدى عامين (1874 ـ 1875)، وهي الأكثر شهرة بينها. فقد أظهر فيها أهمية العلم في حياتنا، من خلال شخصية «سايروس».

The Mysterious Island
Verne, besides including the latest scientific advances of the time in his novels, anticipated many others, like travelling in space or under water.
He studied law but he soon decided to write. His first novel, Five Weeks in a Balloon (1862), made him so famous that he went on writing fantastic adventure stories. The Mysterious Island was written and published in serial form over two years (1874-75) and is one of the most famous. In it, he shows the importance of science in our lives, through the figure of Cyrus.
